Catholic Formation Is Falling Behind the Digital World

Today's Catholics are formed more by screens than by textbooks, yet most Church resources haven't caught up.

8.6hrs/day

Digital Habits Have Shifted — Dramatically

Adults 18+ spend nearly 7 hours per day with media. Teens average 8.6 hours, tweens 5.5 hours. Yet most Catholic formation resources were designed for a print-first world.

31% Catholic App Adoption

Catholics Are Disengaged from Catholic Digital Content

Only 31% of Catholics have an app related to the Catholic Church or Catholicism on their electronic devices

65% retained

Stories Form Hearts — Lectures Don't

People retain roughly 65% of information delivered through story, compared to just 5–10% from a lecture alone. Formation that doesn't tell stories isn't reaching the heart.

Why Sainthood Stories Exists

Lagos, Nigeria — where the vision began

Bisong Taiwo grew up in Nigeria, shaped by video games that sparked his imagination and gave him a sense of adventure. They kept him out of trouble — but they were all secular. None of them pointed him toward virtue or the beauty of the Catholic faith that grounded his family.

That question stayed with him: What if faith-filled digital stories had existed when I was young? Stories as rich, polished, and compelling as the games he played every day — stories that didn't just entertain, but invited him toward God.

"Humanity, even after crossing the threshold of the new millennium, needs artists... to make perceptible the world of the spirit, of the invisible, of God."

— St. John Paul II

Combining filmmaking, game development, and centuries of Catholic tradition, Bisong built a digital space where saints speak to modern hearts with clarity, beauty, and tenderness. His mission: to equip the next generation of saints — one story at a time.
